The association of media consumers of Madrid has awarded Mediaset the ATR for best multimedia initiative for its online TV platform Mitele.
Mitele is one of the most used interactive platforms in Spain among the free-to-air (FTA) channels and offers over 8,000 hours of video-on-demand (VOD) content including series, movies and sport. In addition, some shows are available to watch live.
The mobile app, developed to cover the multiscreen market, was also awarded the gold medal in the ÑH awards.
Mitele has been driving Mediaset's growth in Spain's online TV. Mediaset's websites serve nearly 90 million videos a month for four million unique viewers, according to Comscore figures. Most of the traffic is for Mitele.es and Telecinco.es. Compared to its main competitor Atresmedia, Mitele achieves over 17 million plays a month while Atresplayer has around five million.
The awards ceremony will be held in Madrid next week. Other award-winners include Atresmedia's laSexta, TVE's La 1 and Clan and Mediaset's Telecinco.
