Adding further fuel to the online video boom in the UK, Roku is to add BBC Sport to its streaming video platform.
Under the terms of the deal, sporting news, live action and highlights will be available to Roku customers in the UK on current-generation Roku players including the newly launched Streaming Stick. The Roku Channel Store in the UK offers more than 750 channels of video, music and games available.

BBC Sport is free to download and is now available to UK-located customers from the Roku Channel Store. The launch is timed just before the football World Cup kicks off in Brazil at which BBC Sport will provide live coverage of the 31 games as well as comprehensive football news, analysis, match stats and live scores. Roku will offer a dedicated filter option for the World Cup 2014 content.

"The Roku streaming platform offers the best viewing experience and we are pleased to bring more sporting programmes to our UK customers," commented Ed Lee, vice president of content acquisition at Roku. "This new addition brings a wide range of content for sports fans, including must-see sports events that can be watched live or on catch-up."
