Xbox One then Chromecast the next blinkbox destinations

As the Tesco-owned online TV and film service embarks on a growth phase, blinkbox has now been made available as a dedicated app for the Xbox One console.

The new app complements the existing app for the Xbox 360 as well as apps for Apple and Android tablets, Sony PlayStation 3, Smart TVs, Windows 8 devices, set-top boxes and PCs and Macs. Once the new Xbox app has been rolled out, blinkbox will subsequently roll out an equivalent product for the Google Chromecast device.

The Xbox One app includes all the features of blinkbox apps on other devices including the ability to browse and buy from a vast catalogue of movies and TV, filter by best sellers, new releases, top selling and genre, and search to find the required film or TV series. The app also supports the Xbox One help functionality to offer relevant customer support based on where they are in the application.

"Our developers are working harder than Hugh Jackman's personal trainer to give customers access to the very latest movies and TV shows on their favourite platforms and devices," said blinkbox managing director Adrian Letts. "We've been on the Xbox 360 for a while and together with PlayStation, we've seen games consoles overtake computers as popular devices for enjoying our service. With Chromecast we love the fact that for 30 it's possible to turn a TV with an HDMI input into a smart TV, meaning blinkbox will be even more accessible to those who want to enjoy the latest movies and TV without being tied into a subscription."
