Venezuela's pay-TV sector continued to grow in Q1 2014, reaching almost 60% of population with subscribers up by 20.59% during the last year.

According to figures from Conatel, the country's telco authority, cable and satellite TV services currently have 4.36 million subs in the Caribbean country thanks to the addition of almost 750,000 new customers during the past year.

Such a fast growth is influenced, according to Conatel, by new operators in the country and lower prices of premium services. In addition, satellite platforms are making the installation process quicker and easier and allowing pay-TV connection even where customers are far from the cable networks.

Concurrently to pay-TV penetration, digital service users are also growing throughout the country. In Venezuela there are over 13.15 million Internet users, up by 4.67% in Q1 2014.

Compared to other countries, it's remarkable that mobile connections fell by almost 15%, while home connections and broadband are on the increase.
