Independent distributor DRG has announced eight option deals for Dutch format Out Of the Silence.

Created and co-owned by Tuvalu Media and FormatKitchen, the show follows the emotional journeys of deaf people who are given a life changing implant that enables them to hear again, often for the first time.

Following the launch of DRG Formats in March, DRG acquired the international rights to the format in a quick turnaround deal at MIPTV. The distributor has now made deals in Norway (Novemberfilm), Sweden (Titan), Denmark (Gong) and Finland (Moskito). Deals have also been closed with Loosehorse Television in Ireland, CJZ for Australia and New Zealand and production companies in France and Israel.

"Out Of The Silence is a unique format that captures viewers and takes them on such an emotional journey," said Taco Zimmerman, managing director at Tuvalu Media. "Anyone can relate to just how remarkable watching someone hear for the first time is, so we are delighted to see how much attention the format is getting from all corners of the world."

Andrea Jackson, managing director of DRG Formats, added, "When I saw the promo for Out Of the Silence at MIPTV, it blew me away. We are delighted to have secured production partnerships in these major markets where development of this extraordinary format is happening."
