Swisscom personalises linear, catch-up, VOD recommendations

As it aims to make best use of its legacy and new Android set-top box estate, Swisscom is to introduce personalised recommendations and search capabilities for users of its IPTV service.
To facilitate such functionality in the Swisscom TV 2.0 service, the operator has deployed ThinkAnalytics personalised, multi-language recommendations and intelligent search system for live, linear TV, catch-up TV as well as for video-on-demand (VOD).
The technology provider believes that with its search and recommendation engine Swisscom and other providers can accelerate the deployment and streamline the management of personalised services across their device ecosystem.
The live service uses a range of recommendations techniques – including personalised 'content for you', 'most watched/rented', highest rated, category-based, related content and intelligent search – to help subscribers discover appealing content across more than 250 live channels on Swisscom TV 2.0, and in multiple languages. The recommendations engine is also integrated into the Swisscom EPG to make it easy for subscribers to discover new content.
The deployment also supports Swisscom's seven-day catch-up service, Replay, which lets subscribers watch programmes up to seven days after they were broadcast, and the Teleclub on-demand service, which features over 6,400 films in German, French and Italian and about 5,000 live sports events per year.

"We now have a personalised recommendations/search solution that incorporates advanced analytics and business rules and gives us flexibility and scalability, allowing us to add new features, support for additional devices, and additional services down the line."
