Cable & Wireless is to launch a pre-paid option for its pay-TV platform in Panama, +TV Digital. The company intends the new package to be an alternative for those who cannot afford a full subscription.
+TV's new service includes a selection of national and international channels. The service, which is also being tested in other South American countries, is a pioneering project in Central America.
The company has been preparing the launch over the last four months, trying to create a flexible pay-TV platform with no invoices or contracts. As with other pre-paid services, customers have to top-up in order to continue having access to the cable platform.
+TV Digital Prepago includes 50 channels, including CNN, Al Jazeera, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Infinito, Animal Planet, ESPN and Fox Sports. Kids' channels like Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Boomerang TV, soap operas networks such as Caracol TV and Pasiones, and channels for movies and series like TNT, Film Zone and Studio Universal are included in the service.
The Cable &Wireless service will be available in the most populated areas of the country, including the provinces of Chiriquí, Darién, Colón, Penonomé, Herrera, Los Santos, Bocas del Toro and Veraguas.
