Kantana sets up Japanese venture with Nikkatsu, Nippon TV
Japanese studio Nikkatsu and broadcaster Nippon TV have established a joint venture with Thailand's Kantana Group for CGI production and animation.

The Tokyo-based venture, Kantana Japan Corporation, will be 51% owned by Nikkatsu, 39% owned by Kantana and 10% owned by Nippon TV.

"The newly established company's main business is to receive orders throughout Japan for computer graphics production. Moreover, we will leverage Kantana Group's resources to pursue new business opportunities such as co-producing animations. With Southeast Asia as our base, we will endeavour to develop and expand various production-related businesses," the partners said in a statement.

Kantana is a major force in Thai post-production, with subsidiaries in Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia. Its Kantana Motion Pictures division also produces films, including the recent horror movie Hong Hoon, directed by Kulp Kaljareuk and starring Ananda Everingham.
