Japanese live mobile video distribution system and video provider TV Bank has selected INSIDE Secure's DRM Fusion Server to protect its live streaming service BBTV NEXT.

The news comes only days after the embedded security solutions provider won a contract to enable digital rights management (DRM) technology for protection of premium content on Intel-based mobile devices running Android. In the new deployment the company's DRM Fusion Server will be integrated as a live encoder for the BBTV NEXT multi-channel service which offers 50 channels, including Disney Life, AXN and Fox.

The intention is that BBTV NEXT can be DRM Microsoft PlayReady in a fast turnaround time, providing the critical security needed to its Japanese subscribers to view premium content on mobile devices, critical in a very fast growing mobile TV and video market.

Designed for wireless and line operators and service providers, DRM Fusion Server implements and extends multiple DRM technologies such as Microsoft PlayReady, Windows Media DRM 9, 10 and 10.1, and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) DRM, while providing common integration interfaces. It is built to create live and on demand services for any platform, including TV, PC and mobile adding content protection, rights creation, rights and condition management to licence generation and delivery.

"TV Bank is very satisfied with INSIDE Secure's DRM Fusion Server solution. The product has provided us with a perfect Microsoft PlayReady server environment in a short space of time and it is pre-integrated with most hardware encoders. It helped us speed our time to market," said system development manager Tetsuji Otsuka.
