Wuaki.tv has added hundreds of British movie titles to its video-on-demand (VOD) catalogue, following partnerships with Metrodome, Kaleidoscope Entertainment, The Movie Partnership and Content Media Corporation.
The titles, selected specifically as the best examples of British cinema, include movies from local directors such as Danny Boyle, Guy Ritchie, Ken Loach, Mike Leigh, Noel Clark, Tom Hooper and Edgar Wright. Wuaki.tv picked these titles to appeal to British viewers alongside the usual Hollywood blockbuster releases.
The movies will be divided into classic and modern categories, and feature a host of British stars including Keira Knightley, James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Carey Mulligan, Colin Firth, Helen Mirren and Dominic Cooper.
Under the classic label, the VOD catalogue includes A Hard Day's Night, My Name Is Joe, The Ipcress File and Lawrence of Arabia, while among the modern titles are The Borderlands, A Lonely Place To Die, The King's Speech and Age Of Heroes.
"We know movie fans are always interested in seeing the latest releases, but there's a whole lot more than just Hollywood blockbusters that they enjoy watching - and we've now got the best of British on Wuaki.tv," commented Simon Homent, UK content director at Wuaki.tv. "We are working on more deals of this kind as no other streaming service is focusing on the best of British cinema in this way, and we believe it will really help set Wuaki.tv apart in the market."
