OTT Solutions provider Southern Cloud has released its app for OTT platform Cloudio TV on Panasonic’s connected TVs.

The app is available as a free download in the Panasonic Smart TV store., enabling Panasonic connected TV owners access to a growing number of free and subscription services including Indian broadcaster Sun TV’s and Brazilian TV Globo ‘Ex Pat’ bouquets, as well as access to a number of free services.

“We are delighted to be building on the benefits of the Panasonic connected TV programme and look forward to servicing subscribers through this ever-growing market,” said Southern Cloud’s CEO David Vargas-Racero.

“With average families now owning an average of four connected devices, we must respond to allow consumers more choices in how they want to experience their content.”

Cloudio TV’s VP of Business strategy Marc Van Steyvoort added: “The connected TV market penetration has been experiencing rapid growth over the past few years and the connected TV has become a mainstream appliance in living rooms all over the world, driving the number of TV-centric connected devices installed in homes worldwide passing the one billion mark. Through partnerships with all the major TV manufacturers, Cloudio TV’s service is ubiquitous on smart TVs and the unquestioned leader in the space of Expat bouquets across Europe and the Middle East.”

Cloudio TV’s content acquisition executive Wouter van Ruth: “Panasonic is a vital part of the TV brand range and is a milestone on our technical roadmap . We are working hard on acquiring additional content and expect to announce several other subscription bundles in Q3 and Q4 of this year, inclusive structural partnerships across Europe for distribution and special interest groups.”
