Doug Belgrad has been named president of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.

Belgrad is also president of the company's Columbia Pictures subsidiary, responsible for releases like Men In Black, Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips and American Hustle. He will now add SPE duties to the mix. Belgrad has been with Sony since 1989.

The company said that Belgrad will "integrate creative decision-making, business and financial planning across all of the motion picture group labels," as well as "assume additional responsibilities in business affairs and music," and "supervise the studio's local language film production operations".

"Doug is an outstanding leader with a deep understanding of the motion picture business. He has a rare combination of taste, relationships, experience and business judgment," said Amy Pascal, chair of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group and co-chair of Sony Pictures Entertainment. "Michael and I are thrilled we are going to continue to benefit from all of these qualities by expanding his purview in the Motion Picture Group."
