GLOBO goes OTT to reach Brazilians in Europe

Brazil's largest commercial broadcaster, TV GLOBO, is looking to bring its content outside of its domestic market to the Brazilian diaspora in Europe. It's partnering with Cloudio TV to kick off the over-the-top (OTT) gambit.

Cloudio TV has an OTT infrastructure that supports a subscription format, so that GLOBO can offer a premium network play across multiple devices, like the Cloudio streaming set-top box, connected TVs and compatible third-party apps and hardware. GLOBO plans to stream its linear network to start with.

"We are delighted and proud to be chosen by GLOBO to help the Brazilian communities in Europe to enjoy and connect with their home country," said Cloudio TV CEO David Vargas-Racero. "We are committed to supply all aspects of the service, provide support in Portuguese and we are looking forward to seamlessly migrating the current customers to our service. We did it before with Sun TV Network (Asia's most profitable media corporations and the largest TV network) and we will do it again with GLOBO."

Cloudio TV will be providing subscriber and bouquet management, payment and billing, content delivery, multilingual call centre support six days a week from the UK, and a network of distribution resellers of Cloudio boxes across Europe.
