Sub-Saharan broadcaster SuperSport has acquired, for the first time, the pay-TV rights to all 50 qualifying matches for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2015 football tournament.

A total of 28 teams will participate in the group stages of Afcon 2015, with qualifying matches running from 5 September to 19 November 2014.

SuperSport will broadcast a minimum of seven matches during match weekends, with coverage produced by Sportfive and aired in high definition (HD).

Coverage will include all six home and away games featuring defending champions Nigeria, plus South Africa, Ghana, Angola and Zambia. Up to two-thirds of matches featuring Uganda, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and Tanzania will also be broadcast.

Towards the latter part of qualification, games featuring African giants cameroon, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Algeria will also be featured on the World of Champions, said a statement from SuperSport.

"I'm delighted because this is the first time we have secured a block of Afcon qualifiers," said Brandon Foot, acting chief executive, SuperSport. "With World Cup fever still in the air, it's a great time to be a football fan. Games on SuperSport will come thick and fast: just as fans want."

Games will be available on all of SuperSport's media platforms: online streaming, DVBH, catch-up and video-on-demand (VOD).

The Africa Cup of Nations 2015 tournament will follow in Morocco from 17 January to 8 February 2015 in four host cities – Tangier, Rabat, Marrakech and Agadir.
