Indian multi-system operator (MSO) DEN Networks has opted for NAGRA anyCAST content security and OpenTV middleware for both current and planned digital TV services.

Nagra's OpenTV middleware will enable DEN to provide entry-level digital TV services to the 13 million cable TV homes it serves, as well as increasing revenue through advertising and personal video recorders. Its intuitive user interface also addresses India's multi-lingual landscape and is ready-to-deploy on multiple chipsets, claims the Kudelski Group-owned company.

"DEN Networks is paving the way for a new generation of digital TV services in a region where consumers are hungry for new services and premium entertainment," said Jean-Luc Jezouin, Senior vice president, Asia, NAGRA.

"Our solutions will help DEN Networks bring a new generation of services to market quickly and efficiently, while ensuring the security of their content and providing a fresh and exciting viewing experience to subscribers."

DEN delivers cable TV services in 13 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Kerala, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. It, along with all cable operators in India, is part-way through the mandatory digitisation of its entire cable TV network.
