MultiChoice has introduced its subscription based video-on-demand (VOD) service DStv Box Office to customers of its Sub-Saharan Africa pay-TV platform in Zambia.

Speaking at the launch in Lusaka on 12 September, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Joseph Katema said the DSTV Box Office innovation would allow viewers to expand their choice in movies and enjoy the best of entertainment on DStv.

"It is pleasing to note that currently MultiChoice employs over 200 people directly, which is an improvement from the 20 employees the company had when it began 20 years ago," he noted.

BoxOffice allows premium DStv subscribers to rent and watch the latest Hollywood movies on-demand via their HDpvr or DStv Explora decoders from K15 for 48 hours.

The VOD service first launched in MultiChoice's home nation of South Africa in July 2011.
