After the original version achieved great success, the remake of The Mysteries of Laura is returning to Spanish TV screens, and will be aired by Cosmopolitan TV at the same time it premieres in the US on NBC.

lauraThe remake takes on the same plot as the Boomerang TV production, which has seen three seasons broadcast by Spain's public network TVE, following a detective in New York (played by Debra Messing) tries to combine her personal life with her stressful profession.

The series, produced by Warner Bros, will represent the first time that NBC has adapted a Spanish format.

The US adaptation of the series follows success in Russia, the Netherlands, Italy, Bolivia, Peru, El Salvador and Ecuador, and was one of the most successful formats at last year's MIPCOM.

The Mysteries of Laura has been adapted for the American audience by Jeff Rake, with NBC relying on series experts such as Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Brothers & Sisters) and Joseph McGinty (The OC, Chuck) to pre-produce the show.

Cosmopolitan TV, a premium channel targeting a female audience, will be broadcasting the original series in a bid to increase its audience.
