TVE arrives on Apple TV, Chromecast

The apps of Spain's public network TVE are to land on Apple TV and Chromecast, to complete its support on Android and iOS devices.

rtveTargeting mobile video consumption, TVE is banking on the Internet as its main distribution channel to increase its potential audience.

The new feature requires a TV connected through one of the two devices to the Internet.

From any mobile screen or computer, via TVE's apps, users can choose whether to play content on the TV screen. While the content is played on the TV, users can continue using the mobile app without interfering with the broadcast.

TVE has also announced it will add subtitles to some of its own productions on smartphones and tablets. Series such as Isabel and Įguila Roja, documentaries like Documentos TV and La Aventura del Saber and news programming will have subtitles added, both on their live and on-demand versions.

TVE has recently been focusing on mobile TV and video-on-demand (VOD) services, as over 50% of its online traffic is due to video consumption through smartphones and tablets.
