BT Sport hits the red button

With innovation a key plank in differentiating its offerings in a cut-throat market, BT Sport has launched a red button interactive TV service.

Launched on 19 September on the BT TV IPTV service and on the Sky satellite platform, the new BT Sport Extra will be on air at selected times, providing viewers with additional content alongside that broadcast by BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN. Designed to extend the broadcaster's multi-platform offering, adding to the app and website,, the service is available on a red-button basis fro Sky or as a dedicated channel on BT TV. Viewers can access the BT Sport website for the BT Sport Extra line-up while customers using BT TV can look ahead using the EPG. Additionally, BT Sport Extra will carry information relating to upcoming events.

Commenting on the launch, Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: "Reach is at the heart of BT Sport and we are continually looking at new ways to enhance our viewers' experience.
