SundanceTV has started production for season two of its original scripted series, The Red Road. Production will begin in Atlanta on 22 September, and it will air mid-2015.

New to the cast is acclaimed Native American actor Wes Studi, who plays tribal chief Levi. Returning cast includes Jason Momoa, Lisa Bonet and Tom Sizemore.

The thriller from writer Aaron Guzikowski and producer Sarah Condon revolves around local cop Harold Jensen, who struggles to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring mountains, home of a Native American tribe.

The show has been greenlit for a second season order of six one-hour episodes.

The sophomore season of The Red Road joins SundanceTV's lineup of scripted originals, including the recently announced third season of the critically acclaimed Rectify, which also shoots in Atlanta
