Canada's MTS has launched MLB Network, a 24-hour cable network that covers baseball year-round.

Now available on MTS Ultimate TV with a subscription to the Sports Fans channel package, MLB Network airs in standard definition as well as HD.

"MTS is always expanding its lineup of sports channels and making more great content available on MTS Ultimate TV," said Paul Norris, vice president of brand and consumer marketing for MTS. "MLB Network offers baseball fans around-the-clock programming and we're proud to be the first TV provider to offer it in Western Canada."

MLB Network offers MLB Tonight, live regular season and postseason game telecasts, original programming, highlights, and insights and analysis from Bob Costas, Ryan Dempster, Cliff Floyd, Peter Gammons, Jim Kaat, Al Leiter, Kevin Millar, Dan Plesac and Harold Reynolds.

"MLB Network offers comprehensive coverage, access and an insider's perspective on the sport that has never been seen before," said Tony Petitti, president and CEO at MLB Network. "This partnership helps us expand our reach and accomplish our goal of bringing MLB Network to as many fans as possible."

The news comes as MTS continues a multi-year programme to deploy the MTS FiON Network to more communities in Manitoba. Since 2010, MTS has launched the network in Selkirk, Steinbach, Dauphin, Thompson, The Pas, Neepawa, Carberry, Minnedosa, Killarney, Beausejour, Lorette, Stonewall and select areas of Winnipeg and Brandon. inShare0
