Kicking off in October, AMC is to broaden its distribution on Spain's pay-TV channels by rebranding its CTK film channel as the Sundance Channel.

Sundance Channel, which was currently broadcast only on Movistar TV, Euskaltel and R, will now arrive at ONO, Telecable and several local cable operators in which CTK was being broadcast.

The Robert Redford channel will deliver movies from the independent sector and exclusive series, as well as documentaries from some international festivals. In Spain's pay-TV market, it will premiere the second season of Rectify, from the same producers as Breaking Bad.

"Spain is still one of our priority growing markets in Western Europe and we are looking forward to offer a different programming to the Spanish audience," said Bruce Tuchman, AMC Global's president.

"Replacing CTK by Sundance Channel means a great opportunity for our subscribers and clients," commented Eduardo Zulueta, managing director at AMC for Iberia and Latin America. "To the value of Sundance brand and the quality of its contents, we add our proof capacity to communicate with the Spanish audience."

In addition to be distributed through the main cable and satellite pay-TV platforms, Sundance Channel is operated by AMC Networks as a streaming signal and video-on-demand (VOD) service.
