Verizon Communications has added Mediaset Italia, the 24-hour Italian channel, to its FiOS IPTV line-up.

Mediaset Italia offers Italian-language news, dramas, comedies and thriller series as well as variety and game shows, entertainment events, seasonal sports coverage and Italian films. It combines programming from Italy's top channels: Canale 5, Italia 1 and Retequattro.

The programming schedule is strategically created to offer all of the key primetime programmes from all three channels, in addition to the best general Italian language entertainment programming available. Mediaset Italia also offers daily news, sports and movies to appeal to over 16 million Italians living in the United States. Mediaset Italia can be found on Facebook as well as on Twitter.

"We could not be more excited to partner with Verizon to offer our channel to millions of new households," said Giorgio Giovetti, head of international sales at Mediaset. "Italian-Americans from Long Island to Los Angeles are cheering."

Customers can subscribe to Mediaset Italia for the monthly price of $16.99 for a two channel Italian package including Rai Italia. The channel is available to FiOS TV customers in 12 states and the District of Columbia.

"Mediaset Italia is the perfect addition to our international content offerings on FiOS," said Terry Denson, Verizon's vice president for content acquisition and strategy. "No. 1 meets No. 1. Italian-Americans in our markets can now have the best of both TV worlds."
