Indian multi-system operator (MSO) SITI Cable has launched DOCSIS 3 technology in its Delhi, NCR cable network, raising its broadband speed to 100mbps.

The Essel Group-owned company has been testing the technology for the past two months and will now gradually roll it out to every city in which it serves more than 50,000 cable TV subscribers. The upgrade will cost the MSO an estimated INR3.5 million to INR4 million, according to a local report.

The tariff plan is yet to be finalised, however SITI says it will be "highly competitive" with different pricing packages available for the high speed broadband service. The company is looking to raise the average revenue per user by adding value added services following digitisation. SITI currently serves over ten million viewers in over 60 cities.
