Lark Productions has announced a first-look deal with newly-formed North American production company Picture Arcade, led by former MTV and Comedy Network executive Brent Haynes.

Picture Arcade will develop scripted comedies and dramas as well as unscripted series for Lark to air in North America and internationally.

The deal reunites Haynes with Louise Clark, president and executive producer of Vancouver-based Lark Productions. The two are former CTV production executives who co-developed and oversaw Canada's most-watched comedy series of all time, Corner Gas.

"It's very exciting to be working with Brent again," said Clark. "He brings a very strong comedy development slate to Lark's current drama and unscripted portfolio and his extensive US relationships will be a definite asset to our strategic growth as a company."

Haynes formed Picture Arcade after spending 19 years in broadcasting in both Canada and the US. Most recently, he spent five years in New York City as senior vice president of comedy and animation at MTV, where he managed a full development slate and oversaw production for close to 20 series. Previously, Haynes spent 11 years with The Comedy Network in Canada, where he helped launch the channel. He ultimately became vice president of programming at TCN in charge of the development, acquisitions and scheduling teams.

"I'm beyond thrilled to once again join forces with Louise, this time with her stellar team at Lark," said Haynes. "Lark delivers great looking, high quality shows, and Louise is so highly respected in the industry. I'm kind of hoping a smidgen of that rubs off on me. I also heard that they provide lunch on Fridays, so that really put things over the top."
