S N Sharma, the chief executive of Indian multi-system operator (MSO) DEN Networks, has resigned with immediate effect following seven years at the company he helped found.

The announcement that Sharma had left "due to personal reasons" was made via the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday (29 September).

Widely credited with securing DEN's rapid growth and strong market position, Sharma has worked within the media industry for 25 years; also holding key positions at rival MSOs Hathway Cable & Datacom and IndusInd Media & Communications before his time with DEN.

He was a member of the task force on digitisation set up by the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and is a founding member and secretary of the MSO Alliance.

Sharma holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration.
