TRACE Sport Stars is celebrating further expansion in Mexico as it today (1 October) announces a carriage agreement with fibre-to-the-home provider AXTEL.

The channel is available immediately via AXTEL TV's ULTRA, TOTAL and HD packages, meaning that it is now available on five major operators in the region. Sky, Megacable, Cablecom and TVI also carry the channel, and further announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

AXTEL's content strategy is highly defined in the quality of the channels and not in the quantity," said Jenaro Martínez, director of AXTEL TV. "TRACE Sport Stars is a unique proposal that sees sports in a social context, featuring interesting news and reaching way beyond the game. TRACE Sport Stars adds a value to our schedule that will benefit those subscribers who love sports within the alternative context of sport celebrities."

Laurent Dumeau, CEO TRACE Sport Stars added: "We are delighted to be launching on AXTEL TV and offering our original sport entertainment programming to its subscribers. We are confident the channel will bring an interesting and alternative perspective to sports fans, allowing AXTEL's audience to get more personal with their favourite champions."
