Charlie Herrin has been appointed as senior vice president of the Comcast customer service department, tasked with managing more than 50 call centres and thousands of customer service representatives.

Herrin was previously head of Comcast's Interactive X1 TV guide.

Herrin has been with the company since November 1999. Prior to joining Comcast, he was the director of business development for Qwest Communications, and the account manager at AT&T before that. Herrin graduated the University of Washington with a degree in economics in June 1992.

The move can't come soon enough for the cable giant: along with Time Warner Cable, Comcast consistently ranks in the bottom of the JD Power customer satisfaction index.
