Targeting the increasingly important Hispanic and Latin audience, Keshet International has sold its Prisoners of War's concept to Televisa, which is to shoot a Spanish version for Mexico, Colombia and the US.
Following the path already taken by various other producers – such as Sony Pictures and Teleset which produced Breaking Bad's Latin version Metástasis for Colombia's RCN – Televisa will make a 70-episode series based on Prisoners of War seasons one and two. The show will be broadcast in Mexico by Televisa, Colombia by TBC and by Univision's Unimas for the US Hispanic market.
Colombia's Producciones RTI, the producer of series like Queen of the South and most recently Griselda Blanco – The Black Widow, will oversea production, with Brendan Fitzgerald, managing director of Pomodoro Stories, assisting the process.
Keshet International has enjoyed great success with Prisoners of War, having brokered deals for local adaptations in territories including South Korea (Star J Entertainment), Russia (WeitMedia), Turkey (Medyapim) and the US (Fox21 and Showtime).
The original show has been sold to more than 20 territories including the UK (Sky Arts), Australia (SBS), Brazil (Globosat), German and French-speaking Europe (Arte) and Norway (NRK).
Prisoners of War is also available on several streaming and video-on-demand (VOD) platforms such as Hulu (availability on Hulu Japan has recently been agreed), Netflix Scandinavia, Universal Pictures for German-speaking Europe and iTunes Canada as well as through a range of worldwide physical DVD partners, including Shout Factory in the US.
