In a move to secure its presence among Google devices, Spanish over-the-top (OTT) platform TotalChannel has launched on Chromecast at the same time as releasing a new app for Android tablets.
totalchannelBy connecting the Chromecast dongle to the HDMI port on a TV, TotalChannel can be delivered to screens through an app installed on Android and iOS tablets, and soon to be launched on smartphones and computers. The app allows viewers to watch live TV channels, catch-up programming and video-on-demand (VOD).
The online video platform is also premiering a new channel, with FOX Crime being replaced by FOX Life. Although TotalChannel's offer may not seem comprehensive, the platform includes some of the most watched channels including FOX, AXN, TNT, History and National Geographic.
The pay-TV platform keeps trying to differentiate its offer and attract more subscribers following its purchase by Mediapro after a year struggling to find a position in the market and suffering a lack of financial support.
The market is topped by Canal+'s Yomvi and Wuaki.tv, although other platforms such as Filmin, Atresmedia's VOD service Nubeox, and Magine - the Swedish platform which is still being trialled – also have solid positions.
