Faroudja Enterprises has announced that Bill Herz has joined the company as COO and vice president of business development. Herz brings more than 25 years of video experience to the position.

"Bill is a perfect match for our expanding business. His expertise in advanced video technologies, proven marketing skills and exceptional leadership abilities will strengthen the team and enable the company to bring our compression pre- and post-processing innovations to market faster," said Yves Faroudja, president of Faroudja. "Our technologies are designed to better manage today's demand for video and pave the way for IP-delivered 4K, as well as traditionally delivered media. Bill will help the company manage our growth and present the market with the most effective video compression imaging solutions."

Faroudja develops intellectual property to improve video streaming and file compression efficiency, which it says potentially delivers a bitrate reduction of 35% to 50%.

Prior to joining Faroudja, Herz was a senior fellow and chief multimedia technologist at AMD. He also spent seven years in various roles at NVISIA, including principal video and consumer architect and technologist. Preceding NVIDIA, he served as a vice president of technology and strategy at Oak Technology (now CSR).

"Yves' vision and video experience drew me to the company and I believe that the technologies developed by the Faroudja Enterprises team will absolutely disrupt the video delivery ecosystem, making it capable of handling the increasing amounts of media that consumers desire," said Herz. "The company has the experience, focus and core technologies to change the way the industry delivers media. It's an exciting time to join this company."

Herz has also been granted 63 patents throughout his career. He has degrees in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications Management from SUNY Binghamton and Syracuse University respectively, and is a member of IEEE and SMPTE.
