BT TV deploys StormTest for video service automation and monitoring
| 08 October 2014
Leading UK IPTV service BT TV has selected S3 Group as its is preferred supplier for test automation and video service monitoring.

The move will see BT scale up its deployment of S3's StormTest Development Centre which sees use providing BT with end-to-end service validation capabilities that encompass CPE, headend, and business and operations support systems (B/OSS). It is used already by BT's design, development, quality assurance and operations teams for component, system, and end-to-end tests. BT's teams also use the StormTest Development Centre to test the BT Vision and YouView user interfaces, EPG navigation, new software build integration, the impact of billing changes, and to assess video performance in a live environment.

As the roll-out of new video services and features becomes more complex and time consuming, S3 claims that StormTest Development Centre will be able to improve BT's test coverage and reduce the time required for testing from months to weeks. Indeed it guarantees that it can reduce the product test cycle by as much as up to 50%.

"StormTest Development Centre allows us to validate the end-to-end customer experience, rigorously testing services prior to deployment, and ensuring they meet the highest quality standards when in production," explained Greg McCall, COO for television and content at BT. "Notably, it enables us to efficiently and reliably deliver rapid innovation, while improving the quality and stability of BT's video services."
