Cisneros targets Brazilian, Mexican expansion with new distribution VP

Venezuela's Cisneros Group is planning to jump into the Brazilian and Mexican pay-TV markets led by the VP for content distribution Marcello Coltro.

cisneroslogoAccording to Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, the group will try to re-enter negotiations to enter both markets after trying and failing to do so in 2012.

Cisneros Group, which targets the Latin and Hispanic markets in the US and across Latin America, has an important presence in Venezuela and Colombia, as well as being very active in the US pay-TV through its Miami office.

Coltro was appointed at the end of September and is based at the company's corporate headquarters in Miami. He oversees the company's pay-TV and content distribution units, directly reporting to Cisneros media president Jonathan Blum.

"Marcello brings his television expertise to Cisneros Media, with vast experience in broadcasting, distribution, digital media and marketing. During his career, he's built an outstanding and solid reputation in the industry, succeeding in multicultural markets and securing the development of businesses for sustained growth," said Jonathan Blum during Coltro's public announcement. "In his new role, Marcello will oversee our pay-TV and content distribution units, focusing on accelerating the growth and maximization of existing sources of revenue, identifying new business opportunities, and fostering the development of strategic partnerships and alliances."
