India's public television broadcaster Doordarshan has added six channels to its free-to-air (FTA) satellite service DD Freedish.

India TV, ABP News, Focus News, Cinema TV, 9XM and Maha Movies have been added to the DD Freedish direct-to-home satellite bouquet in November. Six other channels Zee Smile, 9X, India News, News24, Sahara Samay, News Nation UP/UT, Gyandarsshan 1 and Gyandarshan2 are no longer carried on the service after their annual contracts came to an end.

Statutory broadcasting body Prasar Bharati will be holding its 17th online e-auction to fill further DD Freedish channel slots on 12 November 2014. The six new slots were filled from a similar e-auction on 28 October, for which the reserve price was INR37 million (US$603,456) per slot.
