Qwilt, a provider of online video delivery and open video caching solutions, is ramping up its multiscreen video efforts with the appointment of wireless specialist Canby Dautel as vice president of strategic mobile sales for the company.

In his new role, Dautel will be responsible for driving growth and adoption of Qwilt’s mobile video delivery solutions worldwide.

“Consumer appetite for mobile video is soaring. As a result of this growing demand, there is even more urgency among operators to address network challenges posed by the mobile video phenomenon,” said Alon Maor, CEO at Qwilt.

“Qwilt has a proven ability to solve the mobile video problem. With his decades of experience in mobile operator sales, we expect Canby’s leadership will help us rapidly expand our base of mobile operator customers.”

Dautel brings more than 26 years of sales leadership experience in the telecommunications industry to the company. Prior to joining Qwilt, he led North American carrier sales for Acme Packet, the session border controller (SBC) and VoIP giant, whose solutions were acquired by Oracle.

“Through its award-winning product and continued business growth, Qwilt has proven its expertise in addressing the impact of OTT video on operator networks,” Dautel said. “I’m thrilled to join the Qwilt team and look forward to leading the company’s expansion in the mobile sector.”
