AT&T has expanded its U-verse fibre-fed TV, IP voice and broadband service to nearly 2,500 additional local customer locations, thanks to launches in Louisiana.

The expansion is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan to expand and enhance AT&T's wireless and wireline IP broadband networks. AT&T has been steadily working on its southern rollout in particular lately.

A large amount of the local growth nearly 1,500 customer locations took place in Lafayette, La. during September, and other customer locations were also added in other area cities, towns and neighborhoods.

"It's gratifying to hear the positive impact these services make on the lives of AT&T customers," said Rich Guidotti, AT&T vice president and general manager for the Gulf States.

"They tell us they have become even closer to their friends and family members, and better equipped to deliver their best at work because of U-verse's ability to make TV, Internet and voice services work together seamlessly."
