CME would welcome the launch of Netflix in the Czech Republic, as competition will help grow the market.

Speaking at the Prague Business Breakfast Petr Horák, head of diversification at CME, said the company is already the leading player in terms of OTT services in the Czech Republic.

Its AVOD service is the third most popular news and info portal, with 20 million video views each month.

Meanwhile, Nova Plus, launched in February this year, plans technical testing free video on smart TV through HbbTV and its own video content testing production in 2015.

One of Nova Plus’ functions is the online promotion of CME’s SVOD service Voyo. This offers the company’s own content without advertising and significantly has smart TV as one of its main drivers.

CME’s SVOD strategy for next year will focus on simplification, content quality, partnerships and multiscreen.
