Sky Deutschland turns to SES to encode, prepare OTT channels
| 12 November 2014
Leading German pay-TV firm Sky Deutschland has engaged satellite operator SES to manage the technical operations of the recently launched Sky Online service.
sesSES Platform Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the leading satellite carrier, will not only oversee Sky Online's linear offering, responsible for encoding, packaging and monitoring the channels and implementing parental control measures. The new Sky package allows customers to watch content on-demand or streamed linear TV content without having to sign up for a traditional pay-TV subscription and offers two TV packages — Sky Starter and Sky Film — comprising linear and non-linear content.
"Sky Deutschland is currently the most dynamic media company in Europe and has emphasised its strength in innovation by launching Sky Online," remarked Sophie Lersch, chief sales officer at SES Platform Services. "We are delighted that Sky has decided to rely on our technical expertise and multiscreen encoding services for its latest OTT offer, just as it did for Sky Go."
SES Platform Services already manages a total of 25 live OTT channels for Sky Deutschland, 13 of which are on Sky Go.
