Mediaset has acquired the Spanish broadcasting rights for the FIFA Club World Cup taking place in Morocco between 10-20 December.
realmThe audiovisual group will broadcast the event both free-to-air (FTA) and online, highlighting the games in which Real Madrid, the representative of European football, is playing. The Spanish team, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and James Rodríguez, will go straight to the semi-finals without having to participate in previous rounds.
In addition to Real Madrid's two games in Morocco – the first of which will be against the winner of the match between Mexico's Cruz Azul vs. Western Sydney Wanderers - Mediaset will also broadcast two quarter-final matches.
As well as airing on Cuatro and Telecinco, Mediaset's main FTA channels in Spain, the championship will also be shown online through streaming and video-on-demand (VOD) platform mitele.es, which has been used by Mediaset before to deliver extended sports coverage.
FIFA's Club World Cup gathers football champions from around the world, with this year's group including teams such as Argentina's Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, winner of the Libertadores cup winner, Real Madrid (UEFA Champions League), México's Cruz Azul (Concacaf Cup), Western Sydney (Asian Cup) and Es Sétif (African Cup of Champions Clubs).
