Spanish audiovisual group Atresmedia and sports distributor World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will be teaming up for two more years to deliver wrestling to Spanish free-to-air (FTA) viewers.
wweSince their first agreement in 2013, Raw and Smackdown, the two WWE shows broadcast by Atresmedia, have seen audience figures double on DTT's Neox network.
"We are very happy to extend our association with WWE, a partnership which started a year ago with the clear goal of building a solid brand in Spain," explained José Antonio Antón, programming director at Atresmedia. "Results are here and we believe WWE and Atresmedia are a perfect combination both for the audience and for our brands."
World Wrestling Entertainment is a US-based company focused on sports entertainment which owns several fighting competitions and shows, which are broadcast on both pay-TV and FTA networks.
"WWE is very pleased to extend our partnership with Atresmedia for two more years," added Gerrit Meier, executive VP at WWE. "This deal is a great example of integration and how to get closer to our partners around the globe in order to promote TV programming and live events related to our brand."
