FilmBox Premium Channel rebrands in central Europe
| 18 November 2014
Anticipating a content boost from major US TV and film distributors, SPI International has embarked upon a rebranding of its FilmBox Extra channel to FilmBox Premium.
The move affects comes as a result of an internal brand review which indicated that the broadcaster should clearly distinguish its current FilmBox Extra flagship premium channel from other FilmBox brand channels offered in basic, EBS and premium tiers in the region.
FilmBox Premium channel will be carried by most of the DTH platforms and large cable networks in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. The channel will feature a mix of Hollywood and international blockbusters, TV series from US, UK and Australia as well as a selection of independent movie productions from Europe and Asia.
"We are currently negotiating new acquisition deals with major US distributors and we expect to air a number of first-run feature movies on FilmBox premium by the end of this year," explained FilmBox International executive director Berk Uziyel. "We want to make sure that our subscribers have total clarity as to which one of our numerous channels carries the most recent movie premiers and new TV series."
