New line-up boosts Canal Sony in Argentina

Sony Pictures Television Latin America continues to see a growth in audience figures after relaunching its main channel, Canal Sony, in the region with a new line-up.

nathaliesonyThe company has reported high ratings in Argentina, where it is already the sixth more popular pay-TV channel for the younger demographic. The new programming delivered a 0.19% share in October among people aged 24-34, representing a 400% growth comparing to last year and placing Canal Sony among the most viewed premium networks, according to figures from Ibope.

The channel also experienced growth in Mexico last month with the recently premiered scheduled contributing to a rise in figures in, among other audience segments, women with a medium-high economic level, and the channel saw a 58% growth compared to October 2013.

"We have listened to our audience's desires and we have integrated a new look, new programming and new social experiences into Canal Sony," said Nathalie Lubensky, senior VP at Sony Pictures Television Latin America. "We can now see the strategy's success in the results from both Mexico and Argentina."

Canal Sony's line-up includes popular content like How To Get Away With Murder, The Blacklist, How I Met Your Mother, The Voice, Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon a Time or Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Following the premiere of the new programming in August, Sony Pictures launched a pay-TV feed with Canal Sony and AXN in Central America and the Caribbean in September, completing its relaunch of the networks.

Sony Pictures Television is also delivering four standard definition channels for Mexico, the Southern region (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay), the Andean region (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia) and Venezuela. In addition, it is provoding an HD feed for Brazil and a general feed for the whole of Latin America.
