The Philo next-generation TV platform has appointed Andrew McCollum as the company's CEO. Philo works with dozens of universities around the country to deliver live television and DVR to students on any of their devices with search, discovery and sharing.

"Having worked with Andrew for more than three years, I'm very excited that he has joined as CEO to grow Philo's presence and expand its service to university and college campuses across the country," said Patrick Chung, Philo board member and founding partner of the Xfund. "Andrew has been actively involved in Philo since its inception and has provided invaluable guidance as an advisor, investor and board member. The board unanimously supports Andrew in this next role."

Chung continued: "He was part of the team that designed the very first version of one of the world's most compelling consumer experiences at Facebook, and has a deep understanding of Philo's audience - he will use that experience and insight to drive the success of the company."

Prior to joining Philo, McCollum was an entrepreneur-in-residence at New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Philo's lead investor, and Flybridge Partners, a seed investor in Philo. He was also on the founding team of Facebook and has been an active early-stage angel investor and advisor.

McCollum holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Education from Harvard University.

"I am thrilled to join the Philo team at a time when student demand for TV solutions is growing and campuses need solutions to access live television through an interactive and customisable platform on the devices students use every day," said McCollum. "We have a unique opportunity to build a richer and more engaging viewer experience that truly showcases the amazing content on television in new and exciting ways. We're extremely excited to reach more students with the best way to watch TV on campus."
