Univision, Hulu launch short format soap operas

Univision is to launch Novelas Xpress, abridged versions of popular soap operas that deliver all the drama of the original stories in less than 15 hours. Targeting the Hispanic audience across the US, the titles will be available on demand through Uvideos and Hulu.
Novelas Xpress will be running both via desktop and mobile and includes 17 of Univision's greatest hit novelas -such as Amores Verdaderos, El Triunfo del Amor, La Madrastra and Rosa Salvaje. Eight titles are available on Univision's online digital video network, UVideos, and nine through a partnership with Hulu, which Univision has worked with since 2011.
“There is no denying that the media landscape has changed, which is primarily driven by the strong appetite for digital content on mobile devices,” said Emilio Aliaga, VP for digital content at Univision.
“With this innovative take on our most popular entertainment format, we are able to bring additional ways for our audience to experience their favourite programming as well as engage new viewers.”
