While the second season of Velvet hasn't finished airing, its high audience figures have driven Atresmedia to take on the show for another year.

velvetVelvet has hit the spot since it returned to air a month ago, driving the audiovisual group to lead Tuesday's prime time, ten share points above its nearest competitor, Mediaset. Velvet, by Bambu Producciones, is the most watched series this season on Spanish free-to-air (FTA) TV, reaching an average share of 21.6% and nearly four million viewers.

The series first season broadcast at the beginning of the year also experienced great success, with the final episode nearing five million viewers and a 24% share.

Velvet stars well-known Spanish actors such as Paula Echevarría, José Sacristán, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and Ángela Molina, a cast which won awards in the last Ondas Prizes.

Following Velvet's national success, Bambu and Atresmedia sold the format internationally MIPCOM, reaching distribution agreements with Italy's RAI 1 and France's M6, among others.
