Movistar Go, Telefónica's Web and mobile app for content streaming, is using the Iris solution by Mirada PLC to increase the tools and functions of the service in Peru.
Following Movistar Go's launch in Peru three weeks ago, Iris has incorprated new components which are already available for pay-TV subs. Content streaming and extended information from Movistar GO enable users to enjoy a wide variety of multimedia content through a video streaming platform in the form of a browser-based application.
Registered users can access a catalogue of video-on-demand (VOD) and linear content, while Mirada's Iris modules also enable integration with external content providers. Full integration of the Movistar Go platform with external metadata database enables viewers to see extended information for all available VOD and linear TV.
Iris also includes an advanced search and social TV tool which enables users to quickly find desired content in the catalogue. The technology offers a whole range of options to view content, taking into account programmed transmissions for specific content on all the channels where it will be available.
Another feature of the Telefonica application is the option to share content on the most popular social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Picasa.
These services have been selected by Telefonica Peru from the modular Iris solution, focused on user experience and usability. Iris also includes other services such as personalised recommendations, virtual channels, weekly planners, magazines and a multiscreen platform with apps for smartphones and tablets and over-the-top (OTT) services.
