German transmitter network operator Media Broadcast will commence distribution of free-to-air channel RTL Nitro on DTT in German federal state North-Rhine Westphalia today.

The broadcasts will take place on the transmitter sites Cologne and Bonn on DTT channel 36 as well as in Essen, Dortmund, Langenberg, Wesel and Düsseldorf on DTT channel 52. The commercial broadcaster which takes over the transmission slot from CNN International will become available on DTT in Germany for the first time.

“According to the current digitalisation report 2014, around 7.4 million households use DTT in German across various reception devices. The reach of DTT, thus, remains stable on a high level, not least because of an attractive programme lineup,” Ulf Heggenberger, managing director sales and marketing at Media Broadcast, said in Cologne. “We are happy to make a further contribution to securing the attractiveness of DTT with the addition of RTL Nitro.”
