Google's 1Gbps Internet and IPTV service has extended its footprint by going live in Austin, Texas.

Google's fibre-fed connections are up to 100 times faster than basic broadband speeds available from traditional providers, it said.

The service requires a $300 construction fee as a one-time payment, but residential customers can get up to 5Mbps down and 1Mbps up for free. Or, they can pay $70 monthly to get 1Gbps upload and download speeds and 1TB of Google Drive storage space. The $300 construction fee is waived on this plan.

The IPTV and Internet plan meanwhile goes for $130 per month for up to 150 channels and the ability to record up to eight shows at one time via DVR, plus 1 Gbps service.
