Leading film and TV programming provider SPI International has made significant upgrades to its DocuBox and FilmBox bouquets with content from French producer Ampersand.
AmpersandOperating since 1987, the Paris-based Ampersand has in the recent past pursued a policy of international distribution for its documentaries, magazines and current events programmes to appeal to what it says is the ever-growing demand for factual programming. It currently produces 20 films per year, choosing diverse subjects and partners, and started 4K/Ultra HD production in 2013.
For DocuBox, Ampersand content will be accessible both on TV and on-demand. "We are very happy to be co-operating with SPI International, which has a proven track record of providing high quality entertainment through its many thematic channels worldwide," said Jean Dufour, vice president distribution and production.
"We are thrilled to be working together with such an incredible content supplier like Ampersand," added Berk Uziyel, executive director for FilmBox International. "This is a win-win situation for us, but it's the viewers who will end up benefiting the most."
Among the acquired titles there are several series such as wildlife programme The Animal Strategies and The Asian Century documentary series. DocuBox is available also as one of 11 channels in streaming TV on FilmBox Live video-on-demand (VOD) platform.
