DIRECTV hoops Americas League basketball rights in LATAM

DIRECTV has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights in Latin America for the FIBA Americas League basketball circuit.
From 2015 to 2019, the pay-TV operator will provide greater coverage of competition in Argentina, Caribbean, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, including games, news and analysis, and special programmes on DIRECTV Sports.
"For us in the family of the International Basketball Federation in the Americas, this agreement with DIRECTV means a great time for competition continent's leading clubs," said Alberto Garcia, executive director of FIBA Americas. "The DIRECTV Americas League represents the best that our sport has to offer club level, and ensuring dissemination of the highest quality and standards is of great satisfaction for our institution. Today is a great day for us all lovers of basketball."
Next year will see the eighth edition of the FIBA Americas League with the participation of 16 teams, representing a total of nine countries in South America, Central America and the Caribbean.
